How to play

Block Pop is a same game puzzle. The board starts full of coloured blocks. Tap a group of two or more touching blocks of the same colour to select it, and tap it again to pop it. The blocks above drop down into the gap, and if a whole column empties, the columns to its side slide over to close it.

Bigger groups are worth far more than small ones, so the order you pop things in matters a lot. A careless early move can leave single blocks stranded where they will never find a partner. The game ends when no group of two or more is left. Clearing every block is the real goal, and on larger boards with more colours it is hard.

Type lets you choose 5×5 with 3 colours, 10×5 with 3 colours, 15×10 with 3 or 4 colours, and 20×15 with 4 colours. Undo and Redo let you try a different order without starting from scratch.

Credits

Block Pop is based on Same Game from Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection, released under the MIT License. Same Game was written by James Harvey. We built a new page around the official web version, with a phone layout, Chinese text and touch controls. The original copyright and license notice is included with the game files.

Controls

Desktop

Click a group of same-coloured blocks to select it, then click it again to pop it. Use Undo to take a move back.

Mobile

Tap a group once to highlight it and tap again to pop it.

Tips

  1. 1Before you pop anything, look for the colour that is most spread out. Those scattered blocks are the ones most likely to be left over.
  2. 2Popping blocks low in a column brings new neighbours together. Sometimes a small pop at the bottom builds a huge group above it.
  3. 3Save one big group of a colour for later instead of breaking it up early.
  4. 4Undo is free, so try a different order whenever a board looks hopeless.

FAQ

A single block with no same-coloured neighbour cannot be popped. You need a group of at least two.

The first tap selects the group so you can see exactly what will go. The second tap pops it.

When no group of two or more same-coloured blocks is left on the board.

The boards are generated so that a full clear is possible, but only if you find a good order. One careless pop can rule it out.

Yes. Tap to select and tap again to pop. The board fits the screen.
