How to play

Honeycomb Pipes is a hexagonal pipes puzzle. Every tile on the board holds a piece of pipe, and all of them start out turned the wrong way. Rotate the tiles until the pipes join into one single network.

The rules: all pipes must form one connected network, no pipe may point out of the board, bulb-shaped tiles are dead ends, and closed loops are not allowed. Each puzzle has exactly one solution, so you never need to guess. Tiles that are already connected to each other share a colour, and tiles that would close a loop are highlighted so you can spot the mistake.

Choose a hexagon grid, a square grid or an octagon grid (octagons with small squares between them), and a size from 4×4 up to 10×10. Tick Wrap edges and the pipes that leave one side come back in on the opposite side. Every puzzle is generated on the spot in your browser, so New puzzle always gives you a fresh one. When you solve a board you see how long it took.

Honeycomb Pipes is based on hexapipes by Daria Vasyukova (gereleth), released under the MIT License. We rebuilt it as a single static page that generates its puzzles in the browser, trimmed it to three grid types, added Chinese text and removed the site menus, stats and external links. Controls

Desktop

Click a tile to rotate it. Right-click to lock a tile. Draw along an edge to mark a wall, or across an edge to mark a connection. The mouse wheel zooms and dragging moves the board.

Mobile

Tap a tile to rotate it and long-press to lock it. Draw along or across a tile edge to leave a wall or connection mark. Pinch to zoom and drag to move around large boards.

Tips

  1. 1Start at the border. A tile on the edge cannot point outside, so it has fewer ways to turn.
  2. 2Two bulb tiles side by side can never face each other, because that would make a tiny network cut off from everything else.
  3. 3Lock each tile once you are sure of it. It keeps the board readable and protects you from accidental taps.
  4. 4Wall and connection marks are good for things you have proved about an edge before you know which way the tile goes.

FAQ

It is part of a closed loop, which the rules do not allow. Turn one of the tiles in the loop.

Yes. Every generated puzzle has a unique solution.

It joins opposite sides of the board, so a pipe that leaves on the right can connect to a tile on the left.

No. Once the page has loaded, new puzzles are created by your browser.
